Atlas DMT conducted a
PAID PLACEMENT STUDY to discover if paid
search placement has any affect on the amount of traffic received by sites with
paid listings. This is what they found:
Top position ads receive 10 times the traffic
than those in the 10th position!
On
Google,
the ad in top position is subject to 40% more traffic then the lower
positioned ads!
NPD Group, performed a study to determine whether paid
search listings, banner ads, or
tiles were the most effective. This is what they determined:
Paid search listings came out on top in every
situation.
Paid search listings drive the highest awareness for a site.
Paid
search listings rank significantly higher in likelihood to read or click.
Consumers are FIVE (5) times more likely to purchase products after
seeing paid search listings versus banners.
Sites
listed in paid search listings are considered more favorable than those in
banners and tiles.
Furthermore, the study found
astonishingly little overlap in the paid search listings between
Google and Yahoo.
A mere 4.7% of
